Palazzo Villani Lubelli
A cultured dialogue between historical memory and contemporary minimalism in the Salento.
— Project description
The restoration of Palazzo Villani Lubelli in Cannole, at the heart of the Salento, redefines the concept of hospitality through a cultured dialogue between historical memory and contemporary minimalism. The architecture, characterised by imposing star-vaulted and barrel-vaulted ceilings in Lecce stone, is enhanced by an interior design that favours natural materials and an organic colour palette. The suites blend the austere beauty of the original structures with essential design elements: slender metal four-poster beds, textured wall finishes and floors in Venetian terrazzo or decorated cementine tiles. Light — filtered through the characteristic windows or falling zenithally into the sculptural bathrooms — becomes a constructive element that shapes the volumes and warms the porous surfaces. Outside, the pool nestled in the historic garden among citrus groves and Mediterranean species offers a quiet oasis where the charm of the past meets the most evolved comfort. Every detail, from the brass fittings to the monolithic basins, contributes to creating an authentic sensory experience, celebrating the identity of the Puglia territory in a key of discreet, refined luxury.
